I agree...I support Snape/Lily friendship. I don't think thought that it was just a matter of Snape calling her a name and that was that. There was probably problems long before and probably after as well as I don't see Lily not trying at least one more time to repair their friendship. Besides, all shouldn't depend upon on one friendship/relationship to chart the course of one's life. Snape shouldn't have had all of his happiness and well-being stocked in with Lily. It's kind of unhealthy. Plus, Lily shouldn't have been the one to "save" Snape.
I guess that is why I support Lily/James more. Lily was her own witch who was growing up and walking her own path. James was the one she found along the way as he grew into a man who could defy Voldemort 3 times and die for his young son. He was a jerk before but he changed for the better. Plus, both of them had the same future aims in mind as they joined the Order together to fight Voldemort. I think it was more of James was the one who could help bring Lily to her best future (or happiest one) and vice versa while Snape and Lily couldn't do that for each other. It's not about "saving" one another but being willing to just walk besides the other to provide love and support through good times and bad.
